Re: Features You like to see

I'd like to see: Some movement from other people. The occasional person way off in the distance in the village or on the island. Kind of like the villager encounters that you already have, but maybe a few more from the guildsmen or the moeity, but off in the distance so that you might not notice, es...

Mysterium Demo Guesses

While we're all languishing, waiting to see what the Dev's are going to show us at Mysterium, I thought we could have some fun guessing. We've got a week to see if you're right!

Re: Flex and realistic fluids and particles

Yes that's the one. I was more asking: is this something that Starry Expanse would like to use if they were allowed to? Having said that, I actually can't think of anywhere where you can see water flowing in Riven! So maybe not needed in any case :D One thing that this demo is missing mind you, is a...

Re: Final game title?

Starry Expanse, or realRiven.

I'd prefer Starry Expanse, but If the game is going to be marketed, the realRiven title perhaps makes more sense for the general public. I wouldn't pick any of the others though.

Re: Flex and realistic fluids and particles

On a slightly related topic, everyone seen Cyan's new flowing water video on Obduction website?

Re: Writing Ages

Think of it as the Heisenberg uncertainty principal, the more you try to define something, the less sure of it's position you are. That's what I like to think of for the theory behind writing ages. I also like to think that that is Gehn's problem—apart from the fact that he doesn't understand the pr...

Re: Linking?

I agree, especially since all of the ingame text talks about a jerk when you use a linking book, or falling into the page. The only things that falls as slowly as that intro in Riven is a glacier. Also, I'm sure the title of the age doesn't rush past you while travelling through the link normally. ;)

Re: Myst music.

I think that Myst 4s music overpowered the visuals in a lot of cases, myst III was better where I felt that only on Narayan was that the case, having said that, the themes from Narayan are some of my favourite of the game. Where I think they went wrong in later games is where they tried to use music...

Re: music?

I take it from that then, that Cyan do not (wholly) own the rights to the music? Surely if they did they would have no problems giving them to you since they have given you Base models etc for reference.

Re: The Myst Ages From Best to Worst!

- Riven I like Riven so much because of its size, its distinctive style, its haunting isolation, and its attention to detail. Exploring it is amazing, with so many amazing visuals and important objects. Everything in the age, from the architecture to the ocean and the Black Moiety knives, has an al...
