As for weather, Riven is a tropical island if I'm not mistaken. It would seem weird to me to include light rain storms. If you were to implement moving clouds, would that affect the light sources too much? Even if you can't do day/night cycles, I think a cloudy sky would be neat.
I also like the idea of wind effects. I never thought of that one before.

RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition is, IMO, a better attempt to remake Myst than the original realMyst. If you want Myst in realtime 3D, then get the Masterpiece Edition. It looks better and runs well on modern Windows. I'd contest that. Frankly, I think the graphics look worse in the Masterpiece Editio...

Yes. I think Myst III is a legitimately good entry in the franchise. It's also the only notable entry in the series where the villain is sympathetic.
