This board has been pretty barren since the forum was created, so let's rectify that. ;)

Talk about video games (outside of Cyan) here.

Been trying to get a music mod for Oblivion to work. The idea is to have music for each region. Its one of the things I most want for Oblivion since I have province mods like Elsweyr, Black Marsh, Hammerfell and Morrowind.

Anyone else an Elder Scrolls fan? Its really the only other series I play besides Myst.

I'm a sucker for rich lore and fantastic environments.

I was introduced to the Elder Scrolls series with Morrowind, and I still think it's the best in the series.

I played through all of them many times. It's a great series, although I do have the same complaints that many do with the later games (namely skyrim), with the simplification of skills eliminating options and the overall lack of world depth.

I live about 20 minutes from their studio, and every time I drive by, I consider just walking in, and just not taking no for an answer when I ask for a place to sit so I can help them out with their next project. I'm in the same boat as Nick, Morrowind was my first introduction. Since then I've probably played over 2000 hours of Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim.

I definitely agree that I'd love to see them return to some of the more "hardcore" elements that existed in Morrowind. I want to be able to roll my stats so high that a sword swing can take out an entire city again!

Lately I've been playing a lot of Destiny. The game itself kind of dropped the ball on story, but if you take the time to really pay attention, and get online and read the Grimoire cards, there is actually an incredibly rich history and story to it. It's a shame that they kind of screwed up the delivery, but I still really enjoy the grind and collecting gear. Also, the art style and environments are absolutely fantastic.

Another game I've recently picked up, which most of you probably know about but maybe not, is Talos Principle. Really fun puzzler if you are into progressively more difficult puzzles. It's kind of like a less hilarious/clever Portal but with some really great puzzles as you get deeper in.

I like Morrowind more for the lore and world depth, like how each great house had their own unique architectural style and the alien quality to the landscape. Very Rivenesque, or should I say Vanderwendesque.

The problem with Skyrim isn't so much the lack of rpg elements for me (although I loved the depth in Morrowind like how the repair function worked, allowing you to fail a weapon repair, or how the factions had bias against each other) but its more an issue of writing.

I found the lore and story of Morrowind a lot more sophisticated and interesting than the whole Dragonborn thing. Even then the main issue for me was that almost all the side quests, especially Radiant Story dungeon quests were fetch quests, something I find terribly tedious and boring. To make matters worse, the dungeon designs are entirely linear! I actually preferred Oblivion's dungeons that were much more non-linear than Skyrim's, bigger than Morrowind's, and less confusing than Daggerfall's. With mods the dungeons can be the best part of the game, which is why lately I mostly play Oblivion (with added province mods).

I recommend you guys check out https://www.facebook.com/pages/Elder-Sc ... 3210793000 and Beyond Skyrim at http://www.darkcreations.org/forums/for ... nd-skyrim/ Hammerfell is my most anticipated region.

Also, I've been testing Dynamic Music System, a mod that adds music to any region in Oblivion including mods, just like Myst. Here's the link: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/151631 ... ic-system/

For those who just want some seriously fun, and creative puzzles, I've really been enjoying The Talos Principle. There is a hint of story, sort of a "what is the nature of consciousness, and what is this weird place I've been put into where my sole purpose is to solve puzzles". But it's worth a play for the puzzles alone, and boy are there a lot of them.

Really psyched for Revival. A lot the main philosophy reminds me of Uru with the emphasis on the world and live storytelling. I also dig the dark fantasy style.

What?

It's not out yet. That's why I said I'm psyched for it. It looks like it'll really shake things up in the MMO world. Is that what you meant?

Edit: Link borked

Here's the site https://www.revivalgame.com

I was asking because you were psyched over a game that you didn't show in your post. Instead of gameplay or images, there was just a bunch of videos of two guys talking.

Thanks for the website. That's what I was asking about.
