Flex and realistic fluids and particles

Post by Mozalbete »

Hi. I recently discovered that Nvidia's flex technologies (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffgRC3kvA_k) have been integrated into UE4:

Have you considered using them? The refraction and particles could end up being perfect. Some parts, like Map Island, or other small, changing fuilds (I think there was this changing water sphere somewhere...) might look great with this.

I guess it could be a problem if it doesn't work with AMD cards, which must be the case. Also, it doesn't seem to be fully integrated yet. But still, it could be nice to have later.

Hell yes! Map Island and the Rivenese water come to mind as perfect candidates for this tech!

Thinking better about it, for those islands a displacement map would be better, and it's such a prominent, important part that there could be dangerous risks. But Still I'm sure there are some little details where these particles could be used.

Yes that's the one.

I was more asking: is this something that Starry Expanse would like to use if they were allowed to?
Having said that, I actually can't think of anywhere where you can see water flowing in Riven! So maybe not needed in any case :D

One thing that this demo is missing mind you, is a the wet rock left behind as the water level drops. I'd hope that that gets fixed for final version of this tool.

It's totally possible. Both Obduction and realRiven use the same game engine.
