I own the computer version from Myst Collection as well, but I have easier access to the iPhone version

haha oh gosh I'm in the middle of that puzzle in Riven right now, too. I have like a whole page of notes about it and I'm still missing essential pieces of the puzzle...

I totally used a walkthrough the first time I did this puzzle, haha. I must have been like, 13 years old. Way beyond my brain at the time. But so far I'm getting through Riven with only one major hint and a little bit of looking up my theories to see if they're right before proceeding...

Its funny, a lot of people claim Riven is too hard. To me it was extremely logical. No rubix cubes, no timed puzzles, just a lot of association and pattern recognition. I beat the whole thing when I was 9.

I was, at the time, playing the 5 CD version where you had to change the disc every time you changed islands. I think I wasn't patient enough to do all the exploring and back-and-forth needed to collect all the proper information, at the time.


I just beat the fire marble puzzle on my 2nd try, yeaaahhhhh no walkthroughs this time!
