Re: Multiplayer?
Currently, no. The project is intended to be a closed-source release, with no modding platform planned. Sorry

Re: Multiplayer?
It was part of the original plan for the project to allow multiplayer (as it was originally an expansion pack for Uru), but since leaving Uru we also left the multiplayer plans behind. Realistically, I can't see us ever implementing multiplayer, unfortunately.

Re: Direct download Prison Island demo
The direct downloads in the original post appear to still work, at least for me! Maybe the server was down when you tried it?

Re: A Few Questions
There are a number of concerns beyond it taking more time, mainly the question of how it would affect the puzzles and aesthetics of the game. A number of the puzzles rely on visibility to be solved, we don't want to end up in a situation where the player has to wait for morning to find a clue. The f...

Re: A Few Questions
So, these answers are going to be disappointing, I think. For a number of reasons, we decided to drop support for day/night and weather cycles from the game, at least for the foreseeable future. We've detailed our reasons for this elsewhere (I think), but the simplest reason is that any element that...

Re: Progress Tick-list?
Actually, triangulation is pretty much always the first step for new areas - the terrain usually to be triangulated, too! We start with a totally blank slate, and block in as much geometry as we can, in the correct spots and at the correct size and rotation, before we start high-detail modeling. In ...

Re: Final game title?
Personally, I never intended for the game to be called anything other than realRiven. Starry Expanse was just the cool project title we came up with to stay cryptic and cool. We also began the project anonymously, referring to ourselves as 'cho102997' when posting online (10/29/97 being Rivens origi...

Re: Unreal Benefits?
We had been using Unity 3.x for a long time, and the decision to switch to Unreal was a tough one. There were a number of factors that went into the switch, but in the end it boiled down to Unreal being able to do everything Unity could do and far more, while being far cheaper. In order for us to mo...

Re: How much of each part of the game is done?
At least some work has been done on every area of the game. Some are near-complete, some are only roughly blocked-in, some are even less than that. Our current areas of focus are 233 and Jungle Island, previously we've focused on Prison Island, Temple Island, and K'veer, so those areas are farther a...
